Traditions bring a sense of community. Sometimes, they stem from culture. And other times, their history becomes so deeply rooted they shape the identity of a place.
For brothers Dallas and Tony Contreraz, leaders and organizers of Billings Mexican Fiesta, this beloved Billings tradition is all three.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, South Park will once again come alive as Billings Mexican Fiesta celebrates its 72nd year. Hundreds of classic cars line the grass, colorful traditional attire brightens the park, the aroma of fresh food fills the air, and live music provides the soundtrack for a day of celebration.

As the longest-running cultural celebration in Billings, Billings Mexican Fiesta has stayed true in its mission of celebrating culture, heritage, and community while continuing to grow and evolve for more than 70 years.
What began in 1953 as a way for Billings’ Hispanic community to gather and celebrate culture has grown into a celebration that now welcomes more than 10,000 attendees each year, honoring generations of tradition while showcasing the lasting influence of Hispanic culture in South Billings and beyond.

New to Billings Mexican Fiesta? While there’s enough to see and do to fill your whole day, organizers Dallas and Tony Contreraz have a few must-dos they recommend for every first timer:
Ask Dallas and Tony about their favorite memories, and many involve the music and performances on the main stage.
Start your day by watching Los Guadalupes Dance Group perform at 12pm, then stick around for a full lineup of live music and cultural performances throughout the afternoon.

The annual car show is more than a collection of beautiful vehicles. From the time capsule of a meticulously restored classic to a detailed lowrider, each vehicle reflects the personality and dedication of its owner. Take time to visit with participants, and you’ll quickly discover that every car has a story!

Food is a big part of the celebration. With dozens of local vendors serving authentic favorites, there’s no shortage of delicious options. If you’re visiting for the first time, make sure to try elote, or Mexican street corn, one of the event’s signature treats.
Keep an eye out for cascarones – colorful eggshells filled with confetti that are playfully cracked over the heads of friends and family throughout the fiesta. This lighthearted tradition is a favorite among kids and adults alike, and once you experience it, you’ll understand why.
