The Black Cauldron
@Babcock Theatre
Saturday, April 19th, we will be playing two special FREE ADMISSION screenings of the spectacular 1985 dark fantasy animation adventure, THE BLACK CAULDRON, at the historic Babcock Theatre as the next film in our Movie Buffs series, presented by TDS Telecommunications LLC! Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, THE BLACK CAULDRON is a standout effort from Disney's animation studios in a time where people seem to agree that they weren't entirely sure what they were doing (although I personally think they made some great films during this period!). Noticeably darker in tone than their other works and animated in a striking, exaggerated fantasy style, THE BLACK CAULDRON is Disney's delve into the realm of swords and sorcery, full of ghouls and creatures lovingly crafted with hand-drawn animation, accompanied by a great soundtrack and energetic voice actors! It's an awesome, nostalgic piece of animation that'll be a great time for you and the kids- don't miss it!
Taran is a young assistant pigkeeper with dreams of someday becoming a brave warrior. But he has to put the dreams aside and answer the call of heroism sooner than expected when an oracular pig named Hen Wen is kidnapped by the an evil lord known as the Horned King! The Horned King hopes to use Hen Wens knowledge to locate the Black Caudron- a mystical artifact with the capabilities of creating a giant army of unstoppable soldiers- and Taran must put all is effort into thwarting the Honed King's plans!
