Wednesday, July 24th, we are bringing Bikini Bottom to the historic Babcock Theatre when we host an incredibly special screening of the late, historic cartoonist Stephen Hillenburg's contemporary odyssey, THE SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS MOVIE, in celebration of the film's 20th anniversary! After two whole decades (yeah, TWO DECADES, your youth is fleeting, but SpongeBob is an immortal juggernaut- roses have thorns or something!), this film is still a cornerstone of 2000s animation with an energetic charisma that has helped it maintain its timeless qualities with ease! When the titular Krusty Krab employee is denied the opportunity to become manager of the newly opening Krusty Krab 2 due to his age and childish demeanor, he goes on a bleak bender until his sense of purpose is restored by an opportunity to show off his loyalty and selflessness. Neptune's crown has been stolen, and Mr. Krabs is frozen in ice with a date set for execution when he is pinned as the culprit! SpongeBob and Patrick make a deal with Neptune to venture off to Shell City in order to retrieve his crown before Mr. Krabs' execution date- but can the duo prove they have enough maturity and courage to get the crown, save Mr Krabs, and protect Bikini Bottom from Plankton's plan to raise an army of brainwashed slaves???
