Create the Perfect Ski Day from Billings, Montana’s Trailhead!
Winter in Montana is a wonderful time of year. If you follow our social media channels you may have noticed we like to ski, but what you may not know is how easy it is to us Billings as your trailhead to amazing Montana skiing!
A couple weeks ago, I took my coworker and his wife on an adventure to Red Lodge Mountain for a ski day and back for dinner! We shared our day on Instagram through the story feature. The goal was to show how easy it is to spend a day on the mountain and be back in time for a great dinner.
We started with our ski rentals!
Local Tip: Rent from the Ski Station in Billings, whether you are planning to ski for a day or two, Ski Station only charges you for the days you spend on the mountain, not travel days! You can also get your lift tickets for Red Lodge Mountain there at a discounted price!
Rise and shine, the next morning we met for coffee from The Annex before we hit the road to Red Lodge. For more great coffee shops check out our coffee and tea map here!

Red Lodge Mountain is a great mountain for experienced and beginners alike. There are plenty of runs for all skill sets. If you have young kids or first timers there are options to buy lift tickets to part of the mountain so you can learn without buying a full price lift ticket!
It was a beautiful day at Red Lodge Mountain. We even had an inversion, which is where the clouds trapped the really cold air below the mountains in the town of Red Lodge, so it was about 20 degrees warmer on the mountain than in town.
Lunch time meant hot cocoa for some of us!
After a great day on the mountain we drove home to enjoy the amenities that Billings has to offer. In this case it was a nice dinner at TEN at the Northern. One of my favorite fine dining experiences in Billings Montana’s Trailhead.
