Here's the official announcement of the second film to be playing in our exciting new series, VISIONARY VIBES: 3 PILLARS OF PSYCHEDELIC ANIMATION, soon to be shown at Art House Cinema and Pub! September 7th and 8th are the dates that we will be screening Japanese director Eiichi Yamamoto's visually striking cult film BELLADONNA OF SADNESS! (I should probably stress on this post that none of three movies in this series are intended for younger audiences. They are all to be presented in their native languages, and they all have mature themes. This film more than the other two should have that warning taken into consideration, as there are heavy sexual themes throughout, as well as multiple instances of sexual abuse- viewer discretion advised!!) This emotional tragedy takes place in a feudal village where an evil lord orders all wives to sleep with him before their husbands on the night of their wedding. On the night of her wedding, Jeanne is assaulted by the lord, which proceeds to ruin her life. Jeanne is soon banished from her village, and as she yearns for revenge, a demonic figure makes a pact with her, giving her magical powers in order to fulfill her desire! Cost: $9
